Zoology Level 3

Course Title: Zoology, Level 3, Grades 6–8
Duration: 12 Lessons, 12–36 Weeks

Overview:

We are excited to offer this student-requested zoology class for grades 6–8, where your child will explore the fascinating world of animals and their environments. This course is designed to engage all students with a shared study of zoology, including animal classification, physiology, behavior, and conservation. Each week, students will examine a core topic together—such as animal cells, invertebrates, or human impact on wildlife—then break into age-appropriate groups for activities tailored to their developmental level.

What Your Child Will Learn:

• The structure and function of animal cells and organ systems.

• How animals are classified, including invertebrates and vertebrates.

• Animal physiology, nutrition, reproduction, and behavior.

• Ecology, habitats, and the impact humans have on wildlife.

• Critical thinking and observation skills through hands-on experiments and inquiry-based questions.

Activities Include:

• For all students: Answering inquiry-based questions, building vocabulary, conducting home lab activities, and completing knowledge checks.

• Collaborative projects: Observing animals, researching conservation issues, and presenting findings to peers.

Lessons Include:

• Short story at the beginning of each lesson.
• Inquiry-based discussion questions

Goals:

This class fosters curiosity, analytical skills, and a deeper appreciation for the animal kingdom. Your child will gain hands-on experience with zoology concepts, learn to observe and classify animals, and explore ways humans can positively impact the environment. Students will leave with a strong foundation in zoology and an enriched understanding of the natural world.

Course Note:

This course is designed to give you the flexibility to schedule it based on your classroom needs. You can complete one lesson each week or stretch lessons across 1–3 weeks. Build Your Education encourages teachers and parents to adjust the course to fit their timeline and student needs.

Each student will need their own login for the course and a course workbook. Teachers will need the teacher book. The curriculum is not uploaded to these courses.
