Course Description: Essay Writing Skills
Essay Writing Skills is a practical, skills-based course designed to teach students how to think clearly, organize ideas, and communicate effectively through writing. Rather than vague “creative expression” or formula-only instruction, this course focuses on the fundamentals that have stood the test of time: structure, clarity, logic, and purpose.
Students learn how to plan, write, revise, and strengthen essays across multiple styles, including narrative, descriptive, expository, and persuasive writing. Emphasis is placed on understanding why essays are structured the way they are, not just how to fill in a template. Through guided examples, short readings, analysis, and structured practice, students build confidence and competence in written communication.
This course is ideal for middle and high school students who need stronger writing foundations, clearer thinking skills, and preparation for academic, professional, and real-world communication.
